This online resource has been created for students and aims to enrich their classroom art experiences. The pages have been organised so that students can sequentially follow a project and their work can be displayed at the end of each project. My BackgroundLEADERSHIP
I am a specialist Visual Art and Design Teacher with recent training in 21st Century pedagogy, including a component addressing Educational Leadership, undertaken through a Masters of Teaching program (University of Melbourne Graduate School of Education). Prior to teaching, I held positions of responsibility in the editorial news art department at NewsLtd, as well as working as a part of a production team to create graphic design documentation for special publications (Home Magazine and Drive). Working towards the AITSL Highly Accomplished Teacher Certification, I can demonstrate leadership in supporting and leading colleagues to develop and implement engaging learning and teaching programs that apply a cross-curricular, inquiry-based approach encouraging students to recognise relevance and coherence thereby increasing engagement and subject continuity through to senior subject selection to ensure viability and growth across The Arts. My participation in the Middle Years Problem Based Learning and Incubator Network highlights my ability to work with educational leaders across a sector. KNOWLEDGE In-depth technical abilities across all Visual Art forms with a particular focus on Science and Design Technology collaborations, I have implemented new technologies such as laser cutting and the use of non-traditional techniques/processes to create a contemporary and engaging curriculum. I value teacher diversity and utilise relational transparency and high-level communication skills to lead staff in creating a curriculum that utilises principles of “backwards design.” In addition to sharing contemporary pedagogical practices, I apply research-informed mind-frames and utilise the Quality Differentiated Teaching Framework together with student data and a reflective practice to support my role as an agent of change. |
